In the outdoor installation “Dripping” by French artist Pier Fabre, 240 red strings extend gracefully from a waterfall and hang over a natural pool below. Water drips down the the 65-foot-long strings and falls to the pool, creating a rain-like effect. The strings appear to end abruptly in mid-air, a trick that is achieved through the use of thin metal wires which support the strings. The installation is located in the mountainous Sancy Massif in South Central France. It is part of the Horizons outdoor art festival, which runs until September 28, 2014.
