The star of the 33th Edition of the International Cinematographers festival Manaki Brothers is the famous actress Catherine Deneuve and she will receive the Special Golden Camera 300 for achievements in world cinema. She will be festival’s guest for four days. On 15 of September, when she will receive the award, then the next day she will have an open meeting with all the festivals participants and guests that want to see her.
The festival that will be running in Bitola from 15 until 21 of September 2012 will be focused on Macedonian cinema, and there are 28 films from Macedonian production in different festival programmes. A premiere of Darko Mitrevski’s movie “The Third half” will open the festival on Sathurday evening in Bitola. This movie is one of the 11 films from the official competition, as well as one more new Macedonian movie, “Balkan is not dead” directed by Aleksandar Popovski, (that will be screened at the closing of the festival, on September 21st ) that will be running for the prices Golden Camera 300, Silver Camera 300 and Brozne Camera 300.
This two Macedonian movies as well as other 9 films that were part of big festivals, are on the official selection: “This must be the place” directed by Paolo Sorrentino, “Bedouin” by Igor Voloshin, “White Deer Plain” by Wang Quan’an, “Mistery” bu Lou Ye, “Tabu” by Miguel Gomez, “Reality” by Mateo Garrone, “Living” by Vasiy Sigarev, “Atomic age” by Helena Klotz and “In Darkness” by Agnieszka Holland.
There will be 4 Special screenings, 2 of which are of the films “In honor of” the laureates Luciano Tovoli (Murder by Numbers) and Christian Berger (The Piano Teacher).
Other programs will feature documentary movies, shorts, children program, Swedish film focus, Macedonian panorama, as well as workshops, conferences and other activities. The rich additional program covers 3 special talks with the award-winners. The workshop with the Serbian director of photography Miladin Colakovic will be presented as part of the regional project Face to face. As the organizers said, particular exclusivity of the festival is The First Balkan Conference of Cinematographers which will take place in cooperation with IMAGO.
This year’s festival motto is “Keep on creating” and the organizers promised the richest festival so far, with a lot of guests and festival atmosphere.
