Artist Statement:
I started my research into nocturnal imagery in the year 2011, while exploring and painting the narrow streets and low hills of Rome. I was immediately captivated by the magnificent night show which welcomes you to admire the urban scenography and observe details almost invisible to an untrained eye. All of these have motivated me to embark on a journey that I am presently enjoying more than ever.
At present, all my paintings are produced in the night. Be it in the open or in my private studio, the atmosphere of the night is a must.
Through this research, I endeavor to provide multiple visual answers which will hopefully contribute and smoothen this path rarely taken in painting. Sorin Scurtulescu
