The Museum of Art Cluj and Plan B Gallery are pleased to invite you on Friday, April 16, 2010, to the opening of the exhibition of the Mircea Pinte collection, presenting works by Marius Bercea, Mircea Cantor, Alexandra Croitoru, Adrian Ghenie, Cantemir Hausi, Istvan Laszlo, Victor Man, Ciprian Muresan, Vlad Nanca, Cristi Pogacean, Victor Racatau, Cristian Rusu, Serban Savu, Mircea Suciu, Supernova and Gabriela Vanga.

The Mircea Pinte collection was initiated in Cluj in 2004 and focuses on Romanian art of the last 50 years. It now comprises approximately 200 works and is distinguished by substantial sections of works by Paul Neagu, Ion Grigorescu, Horia Bernea, as well as by the consistency with which it has integrated Cluj artists of the 2000 generation.

The Museum of Art Cluj has initiated a partnership with collector Mircea Pinte to make the collection accessible to its public, via a series of thematic exhibitions, over the next few years.

The Mircea Pinte collection was created in relation to the generation of Romanian artists who became internationally known in the mid 2000s. The first exhibition of the collection in the Art Museum of Cluj shows essential works by these artists (not all of them being originally from Cluj), choosing a reverse chronology for the collection: from current to past, emphasizing the fact that a collection of contemporary art also implies an investment of trust.
