ROMANIAN DOORS BOOK
Lansare de carte, 22 mai, h 18, Atelierul de Carte, Muzeul Taranului Roman
You are cordially invited to a reception launching a collaborative book edition. As part of my Fulbright experience, I have been collaborating with Razvan Supuran, a Romanian papermaker and bookbinder, on an edition of artistically designed hand-bound books. The books use photos (taken by me) of various Romanian doors and talk a little about the metaphor of the door as opening onto a different culture. The books, including the paper they are printed on and the wooden covers, are completely handmade of Romanian materials and have been worked on by both Razvan and me. They represent a truly inter-cultural collaborative effort. The reception will be from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, May 22, at his studio in the basement of the Peasant Museum (Muzeul Tarantului) on Sos. Kiseleff. (Enter from the back courtyard near the large outdoor movie screen and follow the signs.) At 6:30 we will be talking briefly about our collaborative effort and will be making a formal presentation of two individual volumes to the Romanian-Fulbright Commission and to the director of the Peasant Museum. Guests from the US Embassy and lots of friends are also comming.Refreshments will be served.
