Two international artists meet in one project – SHADOWS – at MORA Gallery for the NAG#4: photography and installation brought together by the British born and Berlin based artist, NORA ADWAN and the Greek born and Athena based artist, ATHANASIA PANAGEA.

“The project SHADOWS is actually the beginning of a longer term investigation into recording spatial memory and histories through image. In this exhibition, each of us is bringing locations and memories from her previous experience. This placement of image stories in different locations is actually a totally new narration. Long term, the work will change, taking a part of each previous location into the next one. We are trying to record and create evocative images which will eventually form a map between our two locations, Greece and Germany.”  – Nora Adwan & Athanasia Panagea

SHADOWS is one of the visual art projects presented under the MORA 2010 exhibition programme. They were selected based on the proposals submitted through the open Call for Projects in 2009.
MORA 2010 is part of the series of activities dedicated to supporting Romanian visual arts and artists, through ensuring and granting opportunities, offering exhibition space and mediating a dialogue between different artistic expressions, as part of a wider national and international art scene.

MORA starts the white night at 20:00 and closes in at 02:30.

The exhibition continues to be presented in MORA Gallery until June 30.

Doua artiste internationale se intalnesc in proiectul SHADOWS / UMBRE la Galeria MORA in  Noaptea Alba a Galeriilor din 11 iunie 2010: fotografie si instalatie aduse impreuna de NORA ADWAN, artista britanica (traieste si lucreaza in Berlin) si ATHANASIA PANAGEA, artista din Grecia (traieste si lucreaza in Atena).

“Proiectul SHADOWS / UMBRE este inceputul unei investigatii pe termen lung, o investigare a inregistrarii istoriilor si memoriei spatiale prin imagine. In aceasta expozitie, fiecare dintre noi aduce locuri si amintiri din experienta sa anterioara, prin aceasta amplasare a unor istorii in imagini in diferite locatii determinand defapt o naratiune cu totul noua. Pe termen lung, lucrarea se va schimba, luand, imprumutand cate o parte din fiecare locaţie prin care trece, in cea noua, in care se afla. Incercam sa inregistram si sa cream imagini evocatoare, care in final vor forma o harta intre cele doua locatii ale noastre, Grecia si Germania.” – Nora Adwan & Athanasia Panagea

SHADOWS / UMBRE face parte din seria proiectelor de artă vizuală din cadrul programului expozitional MORA 2010. Propuse si create de artisti romani si internationali, proiectele au fost selectate in urma Apelului de proiecte lansat de Fundatia MORA in cursul anului 2009. Programul expozitional MORA 2010 face parte din seria de programe dezvoltate in vederea sprijinirii artei si artistilor romani, prin asigurarea si acordarea de oportunitati, prin oferirea unui cadru de expunere si prin mijlocirea unui dialog intre expresii si practici artistice diferite, ca parte a scenei nationale si internationale.

NAG#4 incepe la MORA la ora 20 si se inchide pe la 2.30 dimineata.
