My artistic journey started a few years ago. In the beginning, collage was play, experiment, sometimes therapy. I was drawn to making collages as they require both sharp conceptualizing and precise manual labour.
The hobby rapidly evolved into a passion, and later a necessity and an important part of my identity. The messy desk filled with cut-outs from magazines and art catalogues became the norm.
There is a strong dose of automatism in my work. The process is spontaneous and I like the crude way of deriving and arriving at an image. What I want to achieve is freedom of the thought. I draw inspiration from surrealist techniques and themes, exploring the Subconscious. Dreams and the bizarre. Challenging traditional notion(s) of reality.
Through my surrealist works I present contradictory ideas and images, and I encourage viewers to question their assumptions about reality and trigger mental and emotional responses. Isolation, alienation, disconnection are the usual enablers of the Subconscious.
