CAN for Balkans is an European network for the world of historical comic strips and the cooperation of comic strips artists.

Partners from Albania,Belgium, Macedonia, Romania and Serbia are facilitating the cooperation between artists and specialists.

Historical comic strips have a past in the Balkans based on nationalist speech and communist propaganda or simply do not have a past (the case of Albania). Unfortunately, in many cases, the sins of the past also characterize the present Balkan comic strips. The cultural speech is marked by cultural and social clichés and stereotypes. Then, the regional art market of historical comic strips is poor, divided and self-governing.

The cultural consortium of partners from Albania, Belgium, Macedonia, Romania and Serbia says CAN to create a cross-border cultural network in order to facilitate the cooperation between artists and specialists in the world of historical comic strips in the Western Balkans and the European Union, in the spirit of European Union values.
he cultural consortium wants to change the bad perspective (inefficient, divided and individual) of historical comics in the Balkans.
To create historical comic strips works in the spirit of European Union values.
But the project is NOT only aimed at professional target groups (artists, specialists, organizations) or passionate about comic strips but also the general public and the local communities hosting the project.

An important objective of the project is to increase the audience for the field of comic strips by offering free access of the general public to attractive cultural events ( the itineration of the project exhibition, in the partner countries), as well as online presentation (digital platform for the project).
