Resurrected
Opening: 16 November 2016, 19:00, Five Plus Art Gallery Vienna
16 -30 November 2016
Resurrected is an artistic project that revolves around the concepts of rebirth/ reconfiguration/ resuscitation/ resetting, a high stake theme which is deeply rooted in contemporary man’s existence. Its potential offers both the artists and their spectators the possibility to approach and interpret the concept in a personal manner, with the intent of offering a reflective and confessional experience. The project presents itself as a starting point for the celebration of the elliptic nature of existence, a visual analysis of the process of reconfiguration, both in form and in concept.
The exhibition is comprised of young fine artists, using different visual techniques: painting, sculpture, graphics and video installation on the theme of resurrection: Andreea Anghel, Anca Badea, Adelina Cacio, Cristina Coza-Damian, Oana Damian, Pavel Grosu, Ioana Iacob, Norbert Dako-Graff, Elena Ilash, Tudor Jucan, Florin Marin, Corina Oprea, Axenia Roșca, Ozana Mureșan, Alina Staicu, Herbert Christian Stoeger, Gabriel Stoian, Ada Muntean.
The ensemble of works will be accompanied by the background music BCVSN – Live Analog Extravaganza – an analog electronic musical project in four parts of Paul Bucovesan, composed especially for this event.
Resurrected outlines itself as an artistic demarche to celebrate existence in a delicate social and political situation, both on a national and international level. Starting from particular and getting to general, from tragic events like the accident in the Colectiv Club in Bucharest and terrorist attacks throughout the world – these events trace a fine line between life and death. The shocking event from Club Colectiv, with its heart-breaking consequences, “resuscitated” and “revived” the national conscience to take to the streets and provoke political change with the purpose of fighting against injustice that leads to death. Such a national mobilization appears as a fight for life itself and for the right to a dignified and bright existence. On an international scale as well, nations unite to fight against terrorism and its beliefs, to maintain peace and the values of freedom and democracy in the civilized world.
The exhibition Resurrected in essence aims to resuscitate the conscience of the onlookers, making them reconfigure reality as they know it through the new visual and conceptual coordinates offered by the artists. Each artist has come up with their own vision and intimate rendition of the concept of resurrection, thus directly and organically engaging us in reflection and introspection.
The exhibition at FIVE PLUS Art Gallery during Vienna Art Week is intended as an artistic and social event set upon offering a deeply personal and reflexive experience.
