Ioan Popdan is a highly skilful emerging artist coming from the Cluj School of Art, Romania; specialized in painting, the artist perfectly masters all classical techniques of the medium, which he uses and combines in a contemporary manner. Working at the intersection of the figurative and the abstract, Ioan Popdan addresses existential subjects and art history related issues.
In Ego. Vertigo. Invincible Necessity solo show, especially conceived for Zorzini Gallery, Ioan Popdan presents a series of artworks that combine research with various perspectives, in order to produce the most significant overview regarding his approach in the last five years.
Thus, Ego. Vertigo. Invincible Necessity stands as a conceptually iconic representation of Ioan Popdan’s inquiries and observations upon art and life, overlapping existential inquiries and societal issues, while comprising all addressed problematic in the framework of the last 50 years of recent Eastern and Western European history and art history bench marks.
