Drawing has, for several years now, been coming back into the focus of attention. Traditionally considered a ‘minor’ art form, it is finally regaining its rightful place in the spotlight and is displayed in all forms at all major artistic events worldwide.
Initiated by Brussels gallerist Pierre Hallet and Michel Culot for Vo Event, Art on Paper aims to take collectors and enthusiasts on a journey of discovery through the world of contemporary drawing.
Since its creation, the event has enjoyed the best possible setup in the rooms of the White Hotel. It is inspired by its Parisian counterpart ‘Drawing Now’ and stands out from large impersonal art fairs with its warm and intimate atmosphere.
Having previously been organised together with Art Brussels, this year Art on Paper has become autonomous and is now an event in its own right: Art on Paper will take place from the 4th to the 7th of October 2012.
Deliberately leaving aside the photography part in order to focus solely on the raison d’être of Art on Paper (drawing), forty or so carefully selected Belgian and international gallerists will invest in the rooms of the White Hotel to bring us an original, quality experience of a very high standard.
Other new features for this third edition: on the one hand, one collector’s collection will be presented to the public, and on the other hand, young creation will be in the spotlight – a competition will reward two laureates from a Belgian drawing school with a room for a joint exhibition.
For the opening night, illustrator Achraf Amiri will create an entirely new happening of which you will see the results throughout the event and Isabelle de Borchgrave will showcase one of her superb creations: a dress that is entirely made of paper.
