curated by_vienna is a programme that commissions collaborative projects between Vienna’s leading contemporary art galleries and internationally renowned curators. Now in its fourth year, curated by_vienna 2012 will be held in 22 galleries throughout the city, opening on 20 September and running until 25 October.

Under the title art or life: aesthetics and biopolitics, this year’s project, conceived by Eva Maria Stadler in cooperation with the galleries, explores the interconnections between work, economy, knowledge, and politics. 25 curators have been invited to develop special exhibitions for the participating galleries.

Experienced as a whole, curated by_vienna 2012: art or life: aesthetics and biopolitics will enable audiences to chart intersections, connections, and diversions across the exhibitions and the sociopolitical geography they encompass—presented in Vienna.
