RO: Despre Twisted Flesh

Prin acest proiect mi-am propus să stârnesc o reacţie, să stimulez reflecția, emoţia şi să îi ofer privitorului o nouă perspectivă, o nouă interpretare a aspectului care ne este cel mai uşor să-l recunoaştem în umanitatea noastră – propriul nostru trup.

Twisted Flesh este în acelaşi timp un experiment psihologic şi o încercare vizuală de a pătrunde esenţa formei fizice ca entitate intrinsecă, dar şi relaţia noastră cu aceasta. Ne este cel mai uşor şi suntem mereu gata să ne identificăm cu trupul nostru. Deşi interpretăm subconştient limbajul trupului atunci când comunicăm cu ceilalţi, rareori ne bazăm pe el pentru a înţelege mesajul care ne este transmis. În timpul conversaţiilor, cel mai adesea urmărim chipul celuilalt, ochii în mod deosebit, pentru a putea comunica eficient cu acesta. Twisted Flesh ne privează de această opţiune şi forţează privitorul să cerceteze trupul straniu fără chip, pentru a înţelege mesajul transmis de imagini.

Fiecare lucrare din Twisted Flesh are propria poveste. Ele provoacă privitorul într-un mod unic şi îl atrag să exploreze complexitatea şi varietatea de relaţii cu eul fizic pe care fiecare dintre noi îl întruchipează.

ENG: About Twisted Flesh
My purpose with this project is to generate a reaction, stimulate thought, emotion and present the
viewer with a new perspective – a new interpretation of the most easily recognizable aspect of our humanity – our very flesh.

Twisted Flesh is both, a psychological experiment and visual attempt to gain some insight into our physical form as an entity in and of itself as well as our relationship with it. Our body is the one thing we most easily and readily identify with. Although we subconsciously interpret body language while interacting with others, we seldom solely rely on it to understand what is being conveyed to us. Usually, during conversation we look for the face, the eyes to be more specific – so that we can properly communicate with the other person. Twisted Flesh takes away that option and forces the viewer to examine the uniquely faceless flesh in order to understand what the images are conveying. Each Twisted Flesh piece tells its own story. They challenge the viewer in a unique way and beckon them to explore the intricacy and variety of relationships to our physical selves that each one of us embodies.

Marius Budu is a visual artist working with photography and digital art. He was born in Timisoara, Romania and is currently based in Copenhagen, Denmark. His stunning way of expressing the essence of the human condition has captured the attention of art lovers worldwide.
