Galeria Ivan va invita vineri 24 septembrie, orele 19, la deschiderea expozitiei:

Caroline Walker // Anonymous Was a Woman //
curator: Jane Neal

“Indeed, I would venture to guess that Anon, who wrote so many poems without signing them, was often a woman” – Virginia Woolf , A Room of One’s Own

“Like Woolf before her, Walker recognises that a woman is in fact many women, the sum of her past, of her sisters’ pasts, of their private and public faces. In today’s society, it is not the fear of childbirth that consumes woman, or child-rearing that makes them invisible and confined to the home, but the fear of ageing, of being ignored or ridiculed. The older woman’s face and body, far from being afforded respect and a position of hard-won privilege, has become a spectre to haunt the younger sister. Where, Walker seems to be asking, is there room enough for that woman in today’s world?”

Caroline Walker (nascuta 1982, Dunfermline) traieste si lucreaza la Londra. A studiat la Glasgow School of Art (2000-2004) si Royal College of Art (2007-2009). A castigat in 2009 Neville Burston Award, Royal College of Art iar in 2010 The Valerie Beston Trust Prize, avand astfel o expozitie personala la Malborough Gallery London (august 2010). In septembrie 2010 este nominalizata la The Threadneedle Prize, Mall Galleries, London.
